Donsu: The Heart and Soul Behind Empowering Autism's Mission
Donsu Adams is a 20-year veteran special education teacher and family consultant. She began her career in Intensive Early Intervention in Maryland while completing her master’s in Early Childhood Special Education at Johns Hopkins University. After graduation, she was invited to teach in their graduate program.
She has served families across Maryland, Virginia, and Florida at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. In 2009, she was awarded Teacher of the Year and nominated again in 2019. Donsu is also the author of several social skills and emotional regulation curriculums used to support both students and families.
For the past three years, she has worked exclusively as an Autism Family Consultant—writing treatment plans for Autism Waiver participants, training and supervising in-home staff, and supporting families in educational advocacy.
Her experience is both professional and deeply personal. As a mother of three—including one with a disability—Donsu offers true empathy to the families she supports. She currently serves as Empowering Autism’s Family Empowerment Specialist, guiding families across home, school, and community settings with compassion, strategy, and purpose.

Andre leads branding and operations at Empowering Autism, where his blend of strategy and heart shapes everything we do. As the architect behind our brand’s identity, he oversees our website, content, and operational model with precision and vision.
His journey began as a devoted father navigating the gaps in his own son’s educational support. Those challenges didn’t defeat him—they ignited his mission. With Donsu’s expertise and his own lived experience, Andre founded Empowering Autism to empower other families walking the same road.
Today, Andre is more than a leader—he’s a protector of the mission. He ensures Empowering Autism remains rooted in clarity, community, and empowerment. Under his leadership, families aren’t just served—they’re seen, strengthened, and supported to lead their children boldly into the future.
